“Lost in Yesterday” is Australian musical project Tame Impala’s fourth single from his fourth album, “The Slow Rush”, due to be released sometime in 2020. Tame Impala was created by Kevin Parker, an Australian multi-instrumentalist, who produces, writes and plays the instruments for every single track.
“Lost in Yesterday” is a track about forgetting past traumatic events and moving on, and perhaps even the slow breakdown of a wonderful relationship to an unhappy one. The track is a mix of psychedelic pop to indie.
The music video was released on the 30th January 2020 and directed by Terri Timely. It features various people in at a wedding party, showing various interactions and relationships. Parker is shown on stage singing along to “Lost in Yesterday”, and the shot is shown as one long continuous shot, and by the time the room has been scanned, we are shown the same wedding on repeat, with the same characters acting and dressed differently. The video ends with one of the wedding goers grabbing the camera and pushing it to the ground, while the bride threatens her guests with a cake slice knife. As of early February, the video has just over a million views.
