“Kings & Queens” is the second track from American singer-songwriter Ava Max and her debut album “Heaven & Hell”, which was released in September 2020 through Atlantic Records. The track was written by Max, Brett McLaughlin, Desmond Child, Henry Walter, Hilary Bernstein, Jakke Erixon, Madison Love, Mimoza Blinsson and Nadir Khayat; with production done by Cirkut (Walter) and RedOne.
“Kings & Queens” is a pop song that talks about female empowerment and the power of women in society. The song had gone through ten different iterations which included varying melodies and production. According to MTV News, the track is about how the world would be better run by queens rather than kings.
The music video for “Kings & Queens” was released onto YouTube on the 27th March 2020, and was directed by Isaac Rentz, who frequently collaborates with Ava Max. The video shoes Max in a heaven-themed throne room with a group of dancers, along with scenes of a banquet. As of early October 2020, the video has 106.1 million views and 1.4 million likes.
