Cheryl was going through tough times with her husband, Chelsea football player Ashley Cole, when she released this song. Although the song was not penned by Cheryl, it may have been influenced by that difficult times. It was noticed that ‘Fight for this love’ has similarities to a song released in 2007 called ‘Lil Star’ by Kelis, but Cheryl denied.
