“Audacity” is the second track from English rapper Stormzy and his second studio album “Heavy Is the Head”, which was released in December 2019. The song features Tottenham rapper Headie One (real name Irving Adjei).
The track was written by Stormzy, Headie One and Fraser T. Smith, with Smith also producing the track. The song is a diss to the audacity of the attitude of young rappers today, who are trying to sabotage or insult Stormzy. In an interview with London radio station “Capital Xtra”, Stormzy spoke to host Manny Norte about “Audacity”: “I get so much love and so much support… But everyone has a small minority of naysayers
As an MC, of course, there’s always that competitive bone in me where I can see something, I can hear something an’ it’s like “Pff… Me? The audacity. You? You dis boy? You dis small boy? You goin’ crazy, man.”
The music video for “Audacity” was released on YouTube alongside the track – on the 1th December 2019. Directed by Taz Tron Delix, the video shows Stormzy and Headie One stealing, breaking and entering and setting fire to things with a group of people who are dressed in puffer jackets and hoodies like Stormzy. The video ends with a young boy placing a crown on his head, with the initials “h.i.t.h”, which stand for the title of Stormzy’s album: “Heavy Is the Head”. As of January 2020, the video has over 5.7 million views, and almost 138 thousand likes.
