Here’s a roundup of some of our favourite new tracks released this week:
We had the pleasure of interviewing Shébani three years ago, and she’s only gone and got better. “MAYBE I SHOULD LEAVE THE CITY” is an incredible piano ballad that sees Shébani explore freedom, belonging and loneliness. Absolutely beautiful, from lyrics to production.
There are many things Sabrina Carpenter does well. But one thing she does exceptionally well, is write an absolutely incredible witty and brutal diss track on a previous lover. “Manchild” is a country inspired track that sees Carpenter wonder why she always ends up with immature men. Essentially, don’t mess with Miss Carpenter.
Little Simz can never release a bad track. Her album “Lotus” was released today, and “Hollow” is one of the best tracks on the album. Covering topics such as manufactured interactions, fake social interactions and people using Little Simz for fame. An incredible song, from production to Little Simz flow.
Ethel Cain is a lyrical genius. Her ability to create a world and atmosphere within a song is unmatched. “Nettles” comes with Cain’s signature haunting vocals and layered production, and is a perfect addition to her multitude of tracks.
“Needy” from Internet Girl and Lancey Foux is the most upbeat track on this week’s list. Great flow, beats and production.
