George Michael’s musical legacy is set to be revisited once again with the release of George Michael: The Faith Tour, a new live album featuring previously unreleased recordings from the singer’s landmark 1988 solo tour.
Due for release on 6 November 2026, The Faith Tour brings together 18 live recordings captured during George Michael’s performance at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the European leg of his first solo concert tour. The recordings were made at a defining point in Michael’s career, shortly after the release of his hugely successful debut solo album, Faith.
The Faith Tour was Michael’s first major tour as a solo artist following his years as one half of Wham! The tour began in February 1988 and eventually visited more than 100 shows across 16 countries, establishing Michael as a major solo performer in his own right.
The Paris performances were filmed using 14 cameras on 35mm film, with the footage later becoming the basis for the newly rediscovered concert film George Michael: The Faith Tour. The live album gives listeners the opportunity to hear recordings from the same performances without the visual element of the film.
The album features live versions of several of Michael’s best-known songs, including tracks from Faith. Among the songs included are “Faith”, “Father Figure”, “One More Try” and “Monkey”, all of which were released as singles from the album. Faith itself became one of the defining albums of the late 1980s, winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and selling millions of copies worldwide.
Michael wrote, produced and performed almost the entirety of Faith, an approach that demonstrated the extent of his creative control following Wham!’s split. The album moved away from the polished pop sound associated with his former group and incorporated elements of rock, soul, funk and R&B. Its success established Michael as one of the biggest solo artists of his generation.
The Faith Tour also reaches back into Michael’s Wham! years, with the live album featuring previously unreleased performances from both his solo and Wham! catalogue. It therefore captures the breadth of his career at the time, as he moved between material from his past and the songs that were establishing his new identity as a solo artist.
The release arrives as interest in Michael’s work continues to introduce his music to new generations. His catalogue has remained prominent on streaming services and social media, with songs including “Faith”, “Father Figure”, “Careless Whisper” and “Last Christmas” continuing to find new audiences. His official TikTok account has also helped introduce archival performances and material to a younger audience.
There is also renewed interest in the Faith era through the accompanying concert film. George Michael: The Faith Tour will feature the rediscovered 1988 footage, alongside previously unseen photographs by photographer Herb Ritts and an unheard interview with Michael. The film is scheduled for a cinema release in December 2026.
The live album itself will be available in several formats, including CD and vinyl editions, with a deluxe box set containing the complete concert across three LPs and two CDs. The deluxe edition will also include a 136-page book containing previously unseen photographs documenting Michael’s first world tour as a solo artist.
Almost ten years after Michael’s death in December 2016, The Faith Tour provides another opportunity to hear one of pop music’s most recognisable performers at an important moment in his career. Rather than presenting another retrospective collection of familiar studio recordings, the album offers a previously unheard document of Michael as a live performer, capturing him at the beginning of one of the most successful periods of his career.
George Michael: The Faith Tour will be released on 6 November 2026.
