Story of Song

In an interview, David Guetta described the song thusly: “I’m really excited about the new mix of ‘Gettin’ Over You.’ Fergie’s and Chris Willis’ powering vocals combined with LMFAO on the mic results in a dance floor explosion unlike anything else being heard right now.” When asked about how the collaboration came together, Redfoo explained that he met the Black Eyed Peas in New York: “We met backstage after a show at Madison Square Garden, and Guetta gave us the track and was like, ‘Yo, I want y’all to do something with this.’ Baboom! We took it back to the hotel, and we got a bottle of Patron, and then we recorded our vocals in the hotel with a couple of female spectators. And then we sent it off to him, and he does his magic to it. Boom!”

In the US, the song topped the Dance Club Songs Charts, peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, and at number 21 on the Mainstream Top 40. The song topped the charts in France, Scotland, and Slovakia. It reached the top 10 charts in Australia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, and Poland. ‘Getting Over You’ was certified Double Platinum in Australia, Platinum in Italy, and Gold in Germany and Spain.
