Waterfall

This is the first time that the Norwegian production duo, Stargate, steps out of the studio and have their shared name listed as a recording artist. In the late 90s, Stargate started out as songwriters in Norway and stayed behind the scenes until they had a conversation with Chris Martin from Coldplay in 2016. In an interview with Billboard, Hermansen from Stargate said: “When we were making the Coldplay album (2015’s A Head Full of Dreams), we spent a lot of time with Chris. He basically said, ‘You guys have never been out there and felt the power of your music, and what it does to people.’ He invited us to come and DJ in front of a Coldplay concert at the Rose Bowl. We did that in August of last year, and it was a really transforming experience. We got to listen to our old songs as a set, and go out and play it to people. That experience was really the seed of the whole project.
Sia and Pink have written songs together before but never sang one together. Ryan Seacrest asked Sia how Waterfall, Pink and she came together for this song, she said: “well, about what it seemed like less than 3 weeks ago, they reminded me (Stargate) of this song and said ‘What do you want to do with this?’ and I was like ‘I want Pink to sing it’ she’s the best person on the planet and I want her to do it. And then we turned into a duet. And now It’s really just a reason for me and Pink to hang out more.”
When Seacrest asked Pink about working with Sia, she said: “I’ve written songs with her, and I’m in love with her. So when this came about, I was like ‘Yeah, I’m there’ this was a little more than 3 weeks ago and the only reason in know is because I have a 10 week old and I was 9 months pregnant when I sang this song and I almost died (laughs).” Just when Pink thought she was resting and ready for the baby, she received a call asking her to record immediately, she added: “As a singer, It is not fun to follow Sia, it’s really really really big shoes to come after.” When asked about working with producers Stargate Pink added: “I have never worked with them, this a first on many levels for me. So I sort of came into this completely open and never had to sing next to Sia and never met them. It was super fun, they were really nice and obviously they’re a hit machine.”

Chart Rankings: In the UK, it peaked at number 47 and in the US it reached number 25 on the Adult Top 40 charts (Billboard). ‘Waterfall’ entered the charts in several countries around the world including Australia at number 19, Germany at number 47, Canada at number 86, Scotland at number 10 and in Italy it topped the charts.

Artist’s age on Release Date: The Norwaigan duo, Stargate, was active for 21 years, Alecia Beth Moore aka Pink was 37 years old and Sia Kate Isobelle Furler was 42 years old when they released this song.
