“Sunset Blvd” is the sixth song from singer Selena Gomez and producer Benny Blanco’s collaborative album “I Said I Love You First”. The album was released on the 28th March 2025 through SMG Music LLC & Friends Keep Secrets and Interscope Records.
“Sunset Blvd” is a synth-pop song that was inspired by Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s first date on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. The song sees Gomez wanting to express her love for Blanco to the whole world, playing with witty lyrics that exude sexual chemistry and reinforce their strong partnership.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, both Gomez and Blanco spoke about the song’s inspiration and spicier lyrics:
Benny:
“This song was exactly that. It was us in the room laughing, being like, can we really get away with it? Is this really something we’re gonna do? That’s when the best moments come out. A lot of artists won’t do stuff like that.”
Selena:
“I’m more comfortable kind of playing with the lyrics than I used to be. And I want to actually thank all the other artists that you were talking about, because they have opened the door to this interpretive type of cheekiness in their lyrics. I think there’s a little bit more freedom to play.”
