SPACE MAN

Sam Ryder

Album SPACE MAN (Single)

“SPACE MAN” is the 2022 single from British singer-songwriter Sam Ryder, released on the 22nd February 2022 through Parlophone Records. It came second during the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022, marking a historic moment for the UK since their last high result was in 1998.

The pop song sees Ryder use outer space as a vessel to describe his dedication to a lover, as well as the normality of feeling sad and down at times in his life, attributing it to only being human. “SPACE MAN” won the Marcel Bezençon Press Award, with Ryder being the first UK act to win the award in this category.

The music video was filmed in Budapest in Hungary, and was released via Eurovision’s YouTube channel on the 10th March 2022. The video sees Ryder being questioned on a late night talk show about the song, and then proceeding to show Ryder on an armchair while he floats through the sky, watching people in a city go about their daily lives. As of the 31st May 2022, the video had a total of 5.7 million views.
