SAD!

XXXTentacion

Album ?

“XXXTentacion” whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, sadly passed away on the 18th June 2018 at the young age of 20, after being murdered in his car.

“SAD!” is the fourth track off X’s 2018 album “? (Question Mark)”, which is the last album he released before he passed away. “SAD!” tells the story of X admitting his difficulties in letting go of someone and him trying to deal with his mind and sadness. “Who am I? Someone that’s afraid to let go, uh / You decide if you’re ever gunna let me know”. X admits that he’s clinging onto a relationship because he’s too scared to let it go. “Suicide if you ever try to let it go, uh / I’m sad, I know, yeah, I’m sad, I know yeah”. X admits that he’ll be suicidal or perhaps even attempt it if lover leaves him, and is honest about him being sad. In the only verse in the song, X sings about how he gave his lover everything, but she took his heart and “left me lonely”, and confesses how he’s been broken and how his heart is like to cause an argument, but he’d rather cry than fix it. He speaks about how “it’s torture bein’ in love / I love when you’re around / But I f*ckin’ hate when you leave”, showing weakness when he’s about someone and how he finds love very hard. The song then ends with the chorus repeating itself twice.

The music video has 95+ million views and was written and creatively directed by X himself. The music video opens with a pair of eyes asking the viewers questions about themselves, such as their age, name and why they are watching the video. It features X himself, fighting another version of himself that arises from a coffin, and also him sitting in a chair talking to a grim reaper type figure, asking questions about death to love.
