“React” is the American girl group The Pussycat Dolls’ first single in over a decade, with their last track as a group dates back to May 2009, with the track “Hush Hush; Hush Hush”.
Written by frontwoman of the group Nicole Scherzinger, with writers G Georgia Buchanan, Johan Gustafson, Will Simms and Hannah Wilson, with production done by Simms, Gustafson and Ivares. React is a synthpop track about an up-and-down relationship with a lover. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scherzinger spoke about how “React” was created: “I had been working with a really great producer by the name of Will Sims and I really loved this song. I just thought it was really melodic, fresh, and current and new-sounding. I was excited to jump on it and the girls loved it as well. It’s an unexpected song. Coming back, we wanted to just do something that felt really new and fresh and something we’d never done. It’s got that electro-pop feel and a great dance beat, so it’s something we could dance hard to and do our own thing to, in regard to choreography.” On the group’s comeback live show on UK music contest “The X Factor” back in November, they performed a snippet of “React” as well as their other infamous tracks.
The music video for “React” was released on the 7th February 2020, on the group’s official YouTube channel. The video was directed by duo Bradley and Pablo, and shows the women in latex style suits, swimming in water filled rooms and dancing. As of mid-April 2020, the video has 23.3 million views, with well over half a million likes.
