Story of Song

It’s a fun song, a commercial hit. Although fans speculated that this song is about ex boyfriend Ed Sheeran, especially the lyric (You wanted my heart but I just liked your tattoos) given that Sheeran has a lion tattoo in his chest. Goulding denied that it’s about anyone and explained that it is just a fun song. In an interview with MTV News, Ellie said: “I probably walked in the studio and I was like ‘Oh, I’ve got this verse on my mind’ and then another writer goes ‘I’ve got this verse on my mind’ and it’s so annoying. And so we kind of formed the song out of all of our different experiences. That’s the beauty of song writing, there’s no rules, it doesn’t have to be about one person or one subject. It all came together perfectly.”  Goulding then continued about speculations that this song in about someone, she said:”It’s fun to do that. I would do the same, But I’m sorry to all the people who want it to be about someone, it’s not, it’s like a myth. There’s no one to think about. It’s just a fun song.”
