Nobody’s Love

Maroon 5

Album Nobody’s Love (Single)

“Nobody’s Love” is the second single released by American rock-pop group Maroon 5 from their upcoming seventh studio album. “Nobody’s Love” was released on the 24th July 2020, and was written by Adam Levine, Ryan Ogren, Michael Pollack, Nija Charles, Rosina Russell, B HAM, Kareen Lomax, Jordan K. Johnson, Stefan Johnson and Jacob Kasher Hindlin; with production done by The Monsters & Strangerz, Ryan Ogren, B HAM and German.

“Nobody’s Love” is Maroon 5’s first single without their bassist Mickey Madden, and was inspired by the current COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the protests regarding the unlawful killing of George Floyd by policemen. Speaking about the song on his Instagram, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine explained what “Nobody’s Love” meant to him: “The entire process of perfecting this song was done with the whole world in mind. I’m hoping that nobody’s love is a song that can give everyone a moment of peace and reflection during this unprecedented moment in our world’s story. Whether you are an essential worker on the front lines, an outspoken citizen fighting for social justice, or just someone who needs a break to remember the potent power of love, this song is for everyone”.

The music video for “Nobody’s Love” was uploaded to YouTube on the same day as the release of the song – 24th July 2020. The video was directed by David Dobkin, and was filmed on an iPhone. The video features Levine sitting alone in his backyeard at night, smoking marijuana. In a joint letter with ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) as well as at the end of video, Levine releases a statement regarding the criminalisation of marijuana: “It’s time to end the War on Marijuana. The aggressive enforcement of marijuana possession laws needlessly ensnares hundreds of thousands of people into the criminal justice system and wastes billions of taxpayers’ dollars,”. “What’s more, it is carried out with staggering racial bias. Despite being a priority for police departments, the War on Marijuana has failed to reduce marijuana use and availability and diverted resources that could be better invested in our communities.” As of late September 2020, the video has 18 million views and well over 419 thousand likes.
