Love Me Again

Story of Song

John Newman told Digital Spy in an interview when asked if he knew in the studio if there was something extraordinary about the song that:  “The guy I wrote it with (Steve Booker), we turned around and had massive grins on our faces thinking, ‘There’s something good here’.  But you just never know how good it is, you know?” The title of the song is based on the time John asked his ex-girlfriend to love him again after cheating on her, and the song was written with John opening up his emotions to the past love. John told (MTV UK) “I kinda really messed up with my ex-girlfriend and she was working down in Dorset for a bit so I jumped on a train went and surprised her and kind of just turned up at her work.” After surprising his ex, John took a train home and immediately wrote the lyrics on the ride back. When John completed the song, which he was hoping would win back the heart of his ex-girlfriend, John told Fresh 102.7 that: “The thing is, when you’re going through a break-up you go through the one and the two, and then you’re finally split up, and signed, sealed, delivered. It was the first time I really messed up and you know, I was ready to move on anyways, so it’s all good.”  John Newman told (Juice TV) that “Love Me Again,” as well as the whole album that the song is on, is a “Breakup Album.”
