“Ice Cream” is an electropop/bubblegum pop song by South Korean girl group BLACKPINK and American singer Selena Gomez. The track was released on the 28th August 2020, and was written by many well-known artists such as Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Victoria Monét, as well as Teddy, Tommy Brown, Bekuh BOOM, 24 and Steven Franks. “Ice Cream” was produced by Teddy, Brown, 24 and Steven Franks (Mr. Franks).

According to an interview Gomez had with Radio.com, she revealed that she was introduced to BLACKPINK after meeting members Jisso and Rosé during New York Fashion Week in 2019. BLACKPINK also shared that they had always been fans of Gomez and her music and listened to it while they were trainees. “Ice Cream” is sung mostly in English, except from Lisa’s verse in Korean. The track uses ice cream as a double-tendre, alluding to sexual acts and intimacy.

The music video was released on the same day as the song – the 28th August 2020. The video shows Selena Gomez in an ice cream van, showing BLACKPINK surrounded by pastel buildings and lavish backgrounds. In the video’s first 24 hours up on YouTube, the “Ice Cream” music video garnered 79 million views. As of mid-September 2020, the video currently has 238.6 million views and well over 12 million likes.
