(I Just) Died in Your Arms

Cutting Crew

Album Broadcast

“(I Just) Died in Your Arms” is a classic in the late 80’s pop rock genre, sung by English band Cutting Crew. The band was formed in London in 1985, and are best known for their 1986 album: “Broadcast”, where “(I Just) Died in Your Arms” is the sixth song on the album.

According to book: “The Billboard Book of Number One Hits”, released in 2001 by Fred Bronson, Nick Van Eede from the Cutting Crew had stated that the lyrics for the track actually came to him while he was having intercourse with his girlfriend at the time. Van Eede has claimed that the title of the track was his own version of the French term “le petite mort”, translating as “the little death”, which is a metaphor for an orgasm.

There were two music videos produced, with the North American version featuring fragmented shots of a model. The UK version was filmed in both black and white as well as colour in a film studio. The UK video was uploaded to Cutting Crew’s official YouTube channel in June 2009 and was of October 2019, the video has over 50.3 million views, over 11 thousand comments and almost 355 thousand likes.
