Possibly one of the most famous love ballads of all time, “My Heart Will Go On” is a classic tune that seems to have stood the test of time. Played in the iconic and classic movie “Titanic” featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, the track is a karaoke staple across the world, and its infamous, emotional tune is known by pretty much anyone who hears it.
The song has an interesting history, as when Céline Dion first heard one of the songwriters James Horner singing and playing the track, she told her husband and also her manager at the time René Angélil that she wasn’t keen on the song, despite Horner ensuring Dion that he was certain the song was “going to be a big hit”., because of Horner’s weak singing skills. Angélil then told Horner to record the track and then Dion will do a demo with her singing the lyrics. From there, everyone knew the track was, and would be a classic.
The song is essentially just Rose and Jack’s love song of the film, and that their love will continue: “my heart will go on” even if they are not with one another again (which is the ending of the film as Jack dies to save Rose and give her the last iceberg to hold onto when the Titanic sinks). The song only has two verses but lasts 4 minutes and 40 seconds, and has an incredible blow whistle in the background for which is is also recognised for.
The music video is simply a set of scenes from the Titanic film of the protagonists Jack and Rose and their eventual romance blossoming. It has over 160 million views and has 1.1 million likes as of November 2018.
