“Green Green Grass” is the second track from English singer-songwriter George Ezra. Written by Ezra, Joel Pott and Stuart Price, both Price and Pott produced the song.
The upbeat pop song was inspired by a holiday Ezra took to St. Lucia on Christmas 2018 with his friends. Ezra spoke to ReadDork about a particular event that inspired the song:
“We were in this beach bar, drinking homemade rum punch and Piton, the local lager […] this music started up, three streets back from the sea. […] there was a street party going on, with three different sound systems […] I asked a woman what was going on and she told me it was a funeral – for three people. They were celebrating three lives!”
The music video for “Green Green Grass” was directed by Isaac Ravishankara and was shot in Los Angeles. The video was uploaded to Ezra’s official YouTube channel on the 4th May 2022. As of late August 2022, the video had a total of 7.8 million views.
