“Good News” is late rapper Mac Miller’s (real name Malcolm James McCromick) first official release since his death in September 2018. It is the leading single from Miller’s sixth studio album and first posthumous project, “Circles”.
“Good News” was written and produced by Miller and Jon Brion, and discusses similar themes Miller discussed on his last record – “Swimming”. “Good News” speaks on feeling no effects of negative feelings that Miller experiences in life, as well as the people around him not allowing to express his negative feelings, but rather, supress them.
The music video was released alongside the track, on the 9th January 2020, and was directed by Anthony Gaddis and Eric Tilford. The music video consists of clips of Miller recording the album, as well as animated worlds and landscapes depicting a happier world Miller would like to ideally be in. In just over two weeks, the music video has over 12.9 million views and over 770 thousand likes.
