An indie-pop band from Brighton in the south of England, Fickle Friends have been around since 2013 but have only recently made themselves more known in the music world. Consiting of Natassja Shiner (vocals, keyboard), Harry Herrington (bass, backing vocals), Chris Hall (lead guitar) and Jack Wilson (keyboards). After two years of touring the UK and Europe playing over 53 festivals, they then signed to Polydor Records.
“Glue” was released in June of 2017, and comes from a place of frustration “from lots of writing… that hadn’t gone very well…” the band stated in their newsletter. The song is talking about the narrator feeling like her and her lover’s lips are “like glue”. The song emphasizes physical attraction and physical desires: “I wanna love you for the night”, “I’m so ready to go home, so call us up a cab and stop me feeling lonely”, and “let’s stop being public, I guess we should get a room”.
The music video was released on the 1st August 2017 (before the release of their album “You Are Someone Else” in 2018). The video doesn’t state the director, and features vocalist Natassja lip-syncing and moving to the song, sometimes to the camera and sometimes to a mirror while the lyrics are played on screen. The video is edited to have tones of purple and pink as well as a glitch camera effect. It has over 330 hundred thousand views.
