The name of the song was inspired by a big sign for the tire company ‘Firestone’. Conrad Sewell saw the sign while he was driving to Venice, he said: “I just thought it was a great title, I wrote it down and kept it and that was later on brought up.” Sewell wrote the song and didn’t have the intentions for it to sound like that. In another interview with Digital Spy Sewell said: “I was actually writing for Steve Angello for a Swedish House Mafia pitch, so when I wrote it I imagined it like ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ like a big EDM anthem. But when I sent it to Kygo he made it all tropical, and at first it was so far from what I thought it was going to be, that I didn’t like it,” Sewell continued. “Not that I didn’t like it, but it seemed unfamiliar. You obviously have a vision for a song when you write it, but then after the third listen I was in love with it because it was the polar opposite.” In an interview with The Sun, Kygo talked about the collaboration with Sewell, he said: “This collaboration happened after Conrad Sewell sent me over an idea for a vocal. I fell in love with his voice and got inspired by his ideas. I ran to my computer after I heard the demo.”
