Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)

“Cold Heart” (PNAU Remix) is the August 2021 remix featuring iconic singer Elton John, Dua Lipa and Australian trio PNAU. The disco remix brings together 4 of Elton John‘s singles to make the track: “Rocket Man” from 1972, “Sacrifice” from 1989, “Kiss the Bride” from 1983 and the album track “Where’s the Shoorah?” taken from 1976’s “Blue Moves“.

“Cold Heart” was rumoured to be in the works for months before its release, with Elton John releasing a statement about the collaboration to Rolling Stone magazine:

“The last 18 months have been hard, but being off the road has meant that I’ve actually had time to get back to my roots as a session player and collaborate with some wonderful artists… And having the opportunity to spend time with Dua, albeit remotely has been incredible. She’s given me so much energy. She’s a truly wonderful artist, and person, absolutely bursting with creativity and ideas. The energy she brought to ‘Cold Heart’ just blew my mind.”

Dua Lipa also released a statement discussing her relationship with Elton John as well as the track:

“Ever since we first ‘met’ online, we totally clicked. Elton is such an inspirational artist and also has the naughtiest sense of humour — a perfect combination. It has been an absolute honour and privilege to collaborate on this track with him. It’s so very special, with some of my very favourite Elton John classic songs combined — I loved being part of such a creative and joyous experience. Can’t wait to hear it everywhere this summer”. 

“Cold Heart” is certified Gold in Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and Switzerland, with the track ranking Silver in the U.K.

The music video for “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” was released on the 13th August 2021 via Elton John‘s official YouTube channel. Directed by Raman Djafari with production done by Blinkink. The video shows an animated version of Elton John dancing on planets and entering different universes shown via different art styles. Dua Lipa enters in the second part of the video as an animated character with Elton John, dancing on different planets. In almost a month, the video has received over 11.4 million views and 259 thousand likes.
