Story of Song
‘Cannonball’ was the debut single for Little Mix, and is a cover of a song originally released by singer Damien Rice in 2002. Damien Rice, the writer of this song, wrote it from personal experience. It’s about the irony of life and how with everything we learn and know about living, we still go through it, often with the exact opposite things happening against our wishes. He goes through a relationship where the events are going on too fast, while he wants them to go more slowly because he’s scared he might lose it all. He feels he has no control over things and that this relationship is like a cannonball that might go loose at any point.
