Album Calm Down (Single)

“Calm Down” is the second single from Nigerian singer Rema and his debut 2022 album “Rave & Roses”, which was released in March 2022 via Jonzing World and Mavin Records.

The afrobeats love track sees Rema trying to communicate his interest in a woman, who he believes he loves. However, Rema reveals that his problem is lack of trust, leading him to struggle with love. Rema spoke to Pitchfork about the inspiration behind the song:

” [it’s] about the events that led me to finding love at the time. It started at a party where I saw a girl who stood out from other girls so I felt like shooting my shot. We spoke and danced… but her friends didn’t let me get any closer which killed the vibe, but afterwards when they weren’t there, we stayed in touch and hit it off.”

Selena Gomez featured in a remix of the track later in 2022, which marked her first single release in some time.

The music video for the song was released on the 11th February 2022, and as of the 19th January 2023, the video had a total of 338.6 million views.

“Calm Down” has received the following certifications in these countries:

  • Gold in: Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK & the US.
  • Platinum in: Belgium, Italy, Portugal & Spain.
  • Diamond in: France.
