Call Me When You Break Up

Selena Gomez, benny blanco

Album I Said I Love You First

“Call Me When You Break Up” is the lead single from Selena Gomez and benny blanco‘s collaborative album “I Said I Love You First”The album was released on the 28th March 2025 through SMG Music LLC & Friends Keep Secrets and Interscope Records. The song features singer Gracie Abrams, marking the first collaboration between all three artists.

“Call Me When You Break Up” is a pop track that sees Gomez and Abrams hoping to be able to support their friend’s break-up. Gomez cleared up the song’s title, emphasising to fans at a listening party that that song “is actually about a best friend that I have in my life. So it’s not about anything if you think it is”.

Selena Gomez & benny blanco created a commentary alongside the album to explain the meaning of each song. For “Call Me When You Break Up”, Gomez explained the song’s inspiration in full:

” this song was something of, um, the nature of playing, and it’s actually not about, um, a relationship, it’s about a friendship […] someone can be in a relationship and you lose that friendship sometimes so you want that back. So, that’s actually kind of a twist I don’t think anybody really knew, but if it feels like it is about a, uh, boyfriend or girlfriend or someone, I think that’s wonderful.”
