“Body Paint” is the second single from English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys and their upcoming seventh studio album “The Car”, which will be released on the 21st October 2022 through Domino Records.
The baroque pop song sees Turner reference an affair he’s aware his partner is having, thinking out loud about how predictable his partner is. The use of body paint in the song (a type of paint that is used to paint on bodies) is a metaphor for the metaphorical marks left on his partner’s body after being with another person. The song has an incredible string arrangement, with the melody telling a story of hurt, deception and confrontation while Turner smoothly sings the lyrics.
The music video was released alongside the single on the Arctic Monkey’s official YouTube channel on the 29th September 2022. The video was directed by Brooke Linder with creative direction done by Ben Chappell. On the 3rd October, the video had a total of 1.5 million views.
