bloodline

Ariana Grande

Album No Information

“bloodline” is one of the more upbeat and funky tracks from “thank u, next” from Ariana Grande.

The track emphasizes the reoccurring theme of Grande’s lack of need or desire for a serious relationship, but in a more upbeat tone rather than slow and melancholic. The track opens up with a snippet from Grande’s grandmother Marjorie Grande, saying: “Because I’m trying to do the best I can, and they can’t find something to satisfy me, ugh!”. Majorie is actually talking about her hearing aid, but Grande cut it down so that it sounds as if she is talking about sex. “bloodline” is focusing on a “friend with benefits” relationship rather than an actual monogamous and serious relationship, hence the term “bloodline”, as Grande doesn’t want this man in her life completely, just for “a good time”. In the bridge, Grande says that she doesn’t need this man, because she’s complete, and that she is not what this person needs or wants. The track is heavily trumpet based with an echo of soul and funk, probably the most difference in sound in comparison to the rest of Grande’s tracks.

There is currently no music video for the track.
