STORY OF SONG
After a fight with his wife, co-writer Crichlow took the bus to the studio. He started writing this song while he’s on the bus. In an interview with Genius he explained how he wrote the song, he said: “I had a fight with my wife, and it just kind of hit me. I ran into the studio, and I was like, ‘Martin, I’ve got this idea. I’ve got this song, and we have to go do it, now!’ We ran downstairs and basically, the song was written in about 25 minutes.” Littrell and Kevin Richardson recorded all of the background vocals on the song who decided to finish up the song while the other members were having lunch, and McLean’s sang harmony with himself on the bridge. The song was unexpectedly offered to the band while recording “We’ve Got It Goin’ On” in June 1995 in Stockholm, Sweden. They accepted the offer when they completed that recording in only two days of their planned week-long session. Backstreet Boys called the music video their most embarrassing clip, Nick Carter told Entertainment Weekly: “We’re all beefed out”. The video was shot at Howard Middle School in Orlando, Florida, and is mostly angst-ridden expressions and plenty of abs.
