According to Ora, the story behind the song came from Avicii’s single, “Lonely Together” (which she featured on), as both were “cut from the same cloth”, being developed from a similar guitar line and composed by some of the songwriters who worked with her on “Anywhere”. Ora wrote this song in LA while she was missing her hometown of London. In interview with BBC Radio 1 show, Ora said: “I felt really still and stuck, I just felt really slow and I wanted to listen to a song I could drive into the distance with. I wrote this song because I wanted to hit the road. Ora added: “I was in a routine, working every day, and found myself day dreaming about breaking out of the city and going on a road trip with my friends and never looking back.” Speaking about the music video, Ora revealed that she was kissing people of the streets, she said: “I was literally grabbing people from the street and kissing them. They were looking at me like I was crazy. They were all really good and wanted to be involved.”

In the UK, the song reached number 2 on the Official Charts Company and was certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). ‘Anywhere’ topped the charts in Mexico, Poland and Scotland. It reached the top 10 charts in several countries including Colombia, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Netherlands, Slovenia and Switzerland. It was certified Platinum in Australia, and Gold in Belgium, Germany and New Zealand.
